INTER HOUSE FANCY DRESS COMPETITION 

        An Inter House Fancy Dress Competition was conducted on 12/08/2016 to commemorate the International Youth Day and as a part of  celebration of “Azadi 70 – Yaad Karo Kurbani”.  Though the theme of the Competition was ‘Great Freedom Fighters’, many could not depict the Freedom Fighters due to want of required costumes. In Junior Category Mas. Kalkesh of Nilgiri bagged the First position and Mas.Rohit of Nilgiri House got the First Position in Senior Category. The Chief Guest of the occasion Mr. S. Kannan, the Principal of the Vidyalaya, praised all the contestants for exhibiting their talents, in many cases innovative, and their sincere efforts to make this programme a grand success.

INTER HOUSE QUIZ COMPETITION 

An Inter House Quiz Competition on the Theme : “The Great Indian Freedom Struggle” was conducted on09/08/2016 to commemorate the Quit India Movement and as a part of  celebration of “Azadi 70 – Yaad Karo Kurbani”.  

There were Four Teams representing all the Four Houses of the Vidyalaya.  Each team had three fervent participants and all gave tough battle to each other.  The participants were made to 1. identify the Freedom Fighters by their slogans, pictures, voices, their famous brave acts,etc. 2. Name the Places, buildings, forts, etc associated with freedom movement, 3. Name the great events of freedom struggle etc.  The contestants and the audience got to know many interesting facts about the Great Indian Freedom Struggle during the Quiz Programme.  Aravali House bagged the First Position with 80 points.  The Quiz Master was Mr. S.Kannan and Scorer was Mas. Saish of XII Class.

INVESTITURE CEREMONY

Investiture Ceremony of the Student Council for the Academic Year, 2016-17 was conducted in a grand manner on 25/07/16.   The Ceremony started with a Welcome Address given by Mr. S.Kannan who had taken up the role of anchoring the programme, too.  He explained that the ceremony was intended to inculcate leadership qualities amongst the students for the smooth conduct of activities, to espouse confidence and a sense of responsibility among them. He called the Investiture the most important function in the school’s calendar, where badges of distinction, honour and tremendous responsibilities are given to Captains who carry a team and perform duties to bring laurels the Vidyalaya. After the formal welcome address, the outgoing Captains were given Certificate of Appreciation for the services rendered by them as Captains.

The real excitement started when the names of the newly selected Captains and Vice-Captains were announced.

The excitement of the new members was palpable as they marched in with their heads held high, ready to shoulder the responsibilities as student leaders. At the outset the Class Captains and Vice-Captains were invested ceremoniously by their respective Class Teachers who presented the honour badges and administered Oath of Office. .  Then the Captains and Vice-Captains of all Four Houses were invested ceremoniously by their respective HMs.  Then, Sports Captains, CCA Captains and Morning Assembly Captains were invested by the PET Teacher, Music Teacher and CCA-Member Teacher respectively.  Finally, the Chief Guest of the occasion Mrs. Karpaga Mala, Vice-Principal presented Honour badges to the Boy-School Captain Mas. Rajat and the Girl-School Captain, Ku. Neshma  and administered them Oath of Office.

In her Address, Vice-Principal congratulated the newly appointed office bearers and reminded them to diligently shoulder responsibilities that lay ahead with dedication and devotion.  She urged the new Captains to become role models, be infused with the spirit to create a positive influence with their service as leaders. She wanted them to be responsible and dedicated and try to do something good for the school with their innovations

The Ceremony ended with Vote of Thanks.

INTER HOUSE ELOCUTION COMPETITION – ENGLISH 

An Inter-House Elocution Competition in English for Seniors was conducted on 22/07/2016.  The Competition was conducted as a part of Teachers for Global Classroom(TGC)-International School Visit.   Ms. Deborah MacCrea and Ms. Ana Siqueira, U.S. Teachers, who had come on this International School visit, were the part of the jury constituted to assess the performance of the contestants.  Eight students – a boy and a girl from each house – presented their awe inspiring speeches and impressed each and every one assembled in the Hall.

VAN MAHOTSAV CELEBRATIONS-2016

           Van Mahotsav was celebrated in the Campus on 08/07/16 with great fervor.  The Chief Guest on the occasion was Mr. Shivram Gaonkar, Agriculture Officer, Canacona.  In his address, he clearly explained how the saplings have to be planted: the distance between the plants/pits, size of the pits, composition of the pits etc.  Later, the Chief Guest, the Principal, Vice-Principals, teachers and students planted the saplings all over the campus. Students themselves have made the required pits over a week as a part of Van Mahotsav Celebrations.

TGC: is a programme of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S Department of State, and implemented by International Research & Exchange Board (IREX)

         This Vidyalaya got the opportunity to host this International School Visit as a part of Teachers for Global Classrooms (TGC) programme from 16th to 23rd July, 2016. Teachers for Global Classrooms is  a professional development programme for teachers of U.S.A .

Out of the 17 U.S Teachers who arrived India, two were hosted in our Vidyalaya for 07 days. They are :

           During their 07 days association with our school the 02 TGC Fellows from U.S.A. who are standout teacher leaders in their respective community, were provided with opportunities to have professional interaction with teachers, students, and administrators in our school.
